Our Mission

AAPSG Mission Statement

The Alamo Area Parkinson’s Support Group (AAPSG) is a not-for-profit community-based volunteer health organization committed to serving the Parkinson’s disease (PD) community in San Antonio and south Texas through advocacy, education, support programs and financial support to research. The AAPSG is a chapter of the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA), a national organization founded in 1961 to “Ease the Burden and Find the Cure” for PD. The mission of the AAPSG is to provide education, outreach, and support programs for patients, their care partners, and the medical community to help ease the burden for people with Parkinson’s, and to conduct advocacy and fundraising programs and solicit financial support to help with research to find the cure.

AAPSG Vision

The AAPSG is committed to building a future where every person in south Texas affected by PD has access to information, resources, and the support and companionship of a community to help ease the burden of living with Parkinson’s. The AAPSG, by raising funds and advocating with regional and national leaders, is also dedicated to supporting medical research to find a cure, and creating a world without Parkinson’s disease.
