In 2001, AAPSG opened the AAPSG Parkinson's Outreach Program (AAPSG/POP) to provide specialized physical, occupational, and voice therapy for Parkinson's patients. AAPSG/POP contact Dianne Johnson, RN at is 210-450-0551.
UTHSCSA Dept. Neurology at 8300 Floyd Curl, San Antonio, TX 78229. The home of specialized Parkinson's rehab intervention of physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy will be moving to a bigger facility, with more parking facilities, more accessible space for wheelchair and the physically challenged patients and an enhanced Parkinson's program with an inpatient rehab component.
Effective Sept. 6, 2006, the move will facilitate improved services from wellness to each specific rehab intervention to better serve the Parkinson's population and the care partners.
AAPSG has two regular fund-raising events.
One is a Walkathon which is typically held in the Spring.
The Walkathon is fun and gives us an opportunity to raise
money and awareness of Parkinson's Disease. Our second and
largest fund-raising event is our Annual Gala which is typically
held in the Fall. The Gala is an evening of entertainment
which includes a guest speaker, dinner, and both silent and
live auctions to raise money for research.
We also sponsor a symposium each year, typically
in early Summer, where we have a luncheon and speakers on
various topics related to Parkinson's Disease. Keep an eye
on our News & Events
- Upcoming Events section for specific dates.
